Bright Space
by Dane Allred
Beginnings
You were there.
So was I.
Everyone and everything that ever was, is, or will be
Was there.
There was nothing else, no other place, and no other time except
That bright space where we all were.
All united in the peace of that bright space
Yet at once all individual.
We were content.
We were at rest in the never ending and
Never beginning
Bright space.
Every idea, every thought
To be thought was there.
There was no time because there was all time.
There was no rush because there was nowhere to go.
At peace, we rested in the blissful knowledge
Of all that was,
Of all that is,
Of all that ever will be.
But then that nagging doubt began.
What if there is something else?
Something not here now
That we could discover if we were not
Resting together in that bright space?
Something we could only discover if we
Became separate
And left the bright place
Of peace and content and rest.
Could there be more if I was not with you
And you were not with me?
What would such a something else be like?
What would make me want to leave you
And for you to leave me
That would be worth abandoning
All that we had ever known
All that we had ever been?
That was when the answer appeared.
Apart, we could be more.
Apart we would find things we could never find
If all of us remained in this peaceful, restful, contented
Bright space.
So we decided to leave.
We would have to become separate for a while
So we could experience all we couldn’t experience together.
We agreed to return and share all that we had learned
So that in our new bright space
We would have no more doubt about
What could be
What we could know
What we could become.
We promised we would remember all we would experience
When we were together again.
And then truly be at peace.

The Illusion of One
I feel apart from you.
You probably feel you are spinning through space alone.
Even in the midst of six billion other people,
Most of us feel we are alone.
The illusion of being apart is on purpose.
We decided to come here to be by ourselves.
After an eternity before this life spent with everyone who every is, was or will be,
After knowing everything there was to be known,
And sharing our ideas, thoughts, feelings and inspiration
With everyone.
Then we realized there was more to know.
We discovered there was a way to learn more,
To be more,
To truly explore what it means to be one,
By coming here alone.
We decided to leave the place where everyone knew
Everyone else, and there were no strangers.
We knew we could learn more apart, even though we are all still connected by that same, safe, Bright Space.
I'll be going back there someday, to reveal all I have learned.
You'll go back there someday, too, so we can all enjoy the things you've learned on your journey.
As this universe experiences itself in the unique way only you can experience,
The knowledge grows.
The insight grows.
We will find out all there is to know, and then perhaps
We may be at peace.
Until then, we spin in our own orbit,
Supposing we are separate.
Thinking we have never met that person we see on the street.
Thinking we are strangers walking among other strangers, never realizing we have all met before.
Not just the people in our neighborhood.
Or our friends.
But we have met every person who lives now,
Who has ever lived
Or who will ever live.
We spent an eternity together before this day.
We will spend an eternity together after this life.
What a great reunion awaits us,
The illusion of being separate will vanish
As we recognize each other again.
We will wonder how we walked alone
When our friends walked all around us.

Bright Space
by Dane Allred
Together Again
I am a stranger here.
Here to observe,
To Learn,
To live.
You may feel like a stranger here, too.
We are the outsiders,
Here from another place.
We were together before this time,
In the bright space.
We travel in this new place,
Unknown to each other,
Struggling in a strange new place
Waiting to make that connection
With someone we knew before.
But the best news is we knew everyone before.
Everyone who has ever lived,
Everyone who lives now,
And everyone who will ever live.
In the Bright Space,
We waited for the opportunity to be more
To do more,
To find out all there is to know,
As this universe experiences itself
Through you and through me.
When we are done with what we can learn here,
We will be together again,
And share all that we have learned.
There is such diversity in our world.
An incredible variety of things, places,
People, and other creatures to be experienced.
One of us could not do a part of it in our lifetime.
In such a world of abundance and wonder
There are so many things to do and find.
But in the rush to do,
We must also be.
We must be there for others
Who are waiting for that helping hand from us.
Who are waiting for that spark from us
That completes the circle
From when we first met,
To today, when we meet again.
Be the bright space.
Be present for that next time
Our paths cross.
Not for the first time,
And certainly not for the last time.
Be conscious of those around us
Not walking with our eyes closed,
Unconscious of others moving through the same space as you and I.
We knew each other before.
We know each other still.
We only need to reach out and make that
Reconnection.
You know that feeling.
You've met before.
You are only meeting again.
Now, there are no strangers here.
We are together once again.

Our Journey
I hope you are finding out those things you were sent here to discover,
Achieving those things only you can do,
Finding those opportunities to reconnect with everyone in this world,
Who was with us in the Bright Space.
We were sent here to learn all there is to know,
To return and complete the knowledge we sought
When we left the Bright Space.
We knew we could only learn these things
Alone and apart from each other here on a spinning planet.
We had to leave the perfect peace of the Bright Space to find the answers
This universe is seeking
By manifesting itself in you and me.
Your life is so different from mine,
Even though we seem to spin in the same orbits,
Doing similar things,
Finding similar answers
Reaching similar conclusions.
But you are a unique expression of how this universe wants to learn.
Your experiences add to the combined experiences of all who have ever lived,
Are living now,
And are yet to live.
When that reunion of all of us in the Bright Space takes place,
What a wonderful gathering it will be.
We will understand how our experiences
And the experiences of others
Have fulfilled our wish to know all there is to know.
To experience those things only we could experience
In a way only we could understand.
We are reminded of that elusive goal every time we meet someone,
Who we are sure we have already met.
We were together in the Bright Space before this life,
And the promises we made to each other are fulfilled on those days
When we reach out to that other person,
Reminded of how important this life really is,
Reminded of how important that other person really is,
Reminded that we have a work to do that only we can do;
We glimpse the majesty of this work,
To bring us together again in that Bright Space,
Together, we can see into the future of our universe.

Bright Space
Diversity
by Dane Allred
When the universe wanted to find out all there was to know
It created you and me.
In the Bright Space we all enjoyed each other’s company,
Celebrating the unlimited number of ways
This universe wanted to discover
All there was to know.
Even when you and I
Experience the same thing,
We experience it in completely different ways.
We can try to explain to someone else
What we have seen and felt
And another person would explain
The same experience
In a completely different way.
But the opposite is also true.
When we are gathered together
United for a purpose
With hundreds or thousands
Of different people
All desiring the same goal,
The same unity,
We are feeling a part of that oneness
We once felt in the Bright Space.
Though we are diverse individuals
With different backgrounds,
Preferences, desires and goals,
At that one moment,
During that one time we are gathered
Together
We feel as one
We shout as one
We act as one.
What a great mystery to be contemplated.
We are apart
And yet we can be one.
It’s that same feeling we get
When we meet someone new,
But they really aren’t new to us
Because we were together before
In the Bright Space.
There is that spark of recognition
That feeling of familiarity
That feeling of oneness
Even though we are quite different
From one another.
While we spin in our own spheres
On this world
Spinning through space
At unbelievable speeds,
We take the time to know others
To help others
To seek that purpose for which
We were sent here.
To experience what this life will offer us,
And experience all the others we will ever meet
As we travel on our voyage.
Someday, when we have experienced
All this life has to offer,
We will return to the Bright Space
The place that is no place
Where there is no here and then
But only now
And we celebrate our oneness and diversity.

Betterment
by Dane Allred
Can’t we all be getting better all the time?
Does someone have to fail so I can succeed?
Does your world view include winners and losers;
Those who succeed and those who never had a chance?
It’s too bad we don’t remember more about the Bright Space.
That place we were, before we were here.
Remember?
I knew you, and everyone who has ever lived,
Or will ever live.
I recognize you, and feel that spark of familiarity
That feeling we have met before
That we spent time together in that wonderful light
Of the Bright Space.
We knew we needed to have a life of our own here.
It was the only way to learn all we needed to learn.
It was the way this universe would experience itself
Through you
And through me.
But now that we are here,
That veil of forgetfulness clouds our thinking,
And we imagine we are all separate,
Alone and away from each other,
Wandering in our own worlds.
There really is only this world.
This time when you and I happen to be here together.
We are here to succeed
To strive and to try,
To fail and get back up
And try again.
And we are here to help each other.
How sad this universe would be if there was just me
Or just you.
We would miss the chance to meet each other again
To struggle to remember how we know each other,
To try to remember we are here for each other
Because we are all trying to experience the world in
Our own way,
Get our own experience,
Find our own path,
And help complete this universe’s attempt to experience itself.
How can there be winners and losers when we are
All here on the same mission?
To find out all there is to know
To return and complete this circle of knowledge?
Maybe you are here to help me find my way.
Isn’t it great we are here together today?

Bright Space
Zeniths
by Dane Allred
You have something you need to accomplish.
You may even have a good idea what it is.
It may be something you have been working towards your whole life.
It may be something that only takes a few days to accomplish.
But whatever it is,
The world remains changed forever after.
You are here for a reason.
There is something you have to do.
What does it feel like when you have finally reached that point?
There is that sense of satisfaction,
The knowledge you have made a difference.
The incredible surety you feel that what you are doing is right,
And you are doing it for the right reason.
It is an incredible and satisfying feeling,
A kind of euphoria.
When you have reached the highest point
The zenith,
There may be half of the trip still in front of you.
The culmination of a lifetime of work
Isn’t the end.
There is always something after.
The relief of having accomplished what you intended to do.
But often the glow of success is often followed by a letdown.
We all have those zeniths in our life where an incredible rush of excitement is followed by the lull of what comes afterwards.
We were all together in the Bright Space before,
Heady with the excitement of this new adventure called life.
We came here to learn all we can learn,
To someday return to that Bright Space
And realize we have accomplished our purpose;
To know all there is to know.
I am here to help you reach that zenith.
You are here to help me accomplish what it is I need to do.
In a life filled with possibilities,
There are so many things to be done.
We are here to do them.
Maybe we will have many different kinds of zeniths in this life.
Now there are seven billion of us on this journey together.
There is nothing we cannot accomplish.
What can I do to help you reach your zenith?

Yesterday
by Dane Allred
Without a yesterday
There can be no today.
We are the sum of all the yesterdays.
All my yesterdays,
All your yesterdays,
All the last weeks, last months,
Last years and last centuries
That stretch back to the dawn of time itself.
When we wake to the world each day,
Those who went before creating the world
Give us our today.
Those future days depend on
What we do with our today.
What do we want to leave to those of us
Who will wake to another today?
This is the only day we have
Since we have spent our yesterdays
And can’t get to our tomorrows
Without going through today.
We have been given this gift called the present;
This day to wake, to work, to play.
This day to find our way to make a better today
For those of us here tomorrow.
We seek a way to make this world a better place
A place we want to awaken to tomorrow.
We want the best for ourselves and for others
Hoping for help along the hours
Looking for ways to help those seeking help.
What would we do this day?
Do as you would have done.
Do those things you would hope others would do
If given the same chance as you.
Brighten the day of someone else,
In the hope that someone will someday
Brighten your day.
Help those who need your help
In the hope that someone will someday
Give you the help you need.
Reach out to those who need comfort
In the hope to be comforted someday
When you are most in need of comfort.
Seek for that one looking for help.
Seek for those who can help you.
There really is no other journey
Than the one we make with each other.
Someone in a yesterday gave us this gift
We call the present.
This day we call today.
It is our day to do with what we will.
What will you do with today?

Walls by Dane Allred
Tuesday Oct 18, 2011
Tuesday Oct 18, 2011
Walls can keep us in
Or shut us out.
We use walls to separate ourselves from others
When in truth we all share that common source.
The Bright Space where we all were once,
That place where I knew all there was to know about you,
And you knew all there was to know about me.
We knew everyone who has ever lived,
Who will ever live,
As well as we knew ourselves.
But then we realized there was more to us than that.
There was a something we were missing,
Hiding behind our wall of complacence
Knowing all there was to know.
We discovered we could learn more.
We could experience the universe by ourselves
Alone and away from each other
And the comfort we knew in each other’s company.
So we came here to experience this universe in our own way,
To add to the knowledge of all that has ever been
By finding our way through this solitary life.
We feel alone,
But it was meant for our paths to cross.
I am here to find my way,
But in finding that path,
I may also be here to help you find your way.
What a disappointment it is when we forget that past connection,
When we walk past each other every day
Wondering how to make this life better
And the answer is all around us.
We are here, but we are not alone.
When we reach out to each other,
There is that one instant of recognition
That spark of familiarity
That confirms the link with the time we spent together before this life.
Working together toward our future
We are finding all there is to know
In our own life,
Enriching the lives of others
And seeking that knowledge in perfect harmony
With this universe.
Reach out and break down that wall,
And help continue our search for all there is to know.
The answer is all around us.
We are here, but we are not alone.

Value
by Dane Allred
Why would we value one person above another?
They had a mother, a father who cared for them.
Who guided their path into this world.
They were born into this world with the same
Potential
Hopes
Fears
And anxieties as each of us.
But when someone falls short of what they want to be,
Or someone falls short of what we think they should be,
Then that judgment devalues the world.
When one of us is dimished,
Then the world must be diminished.
When we strike out with our anger,
Express our disappointment
Give up our goals of being better today
Than we were yesterday;
This universe suffers.
When we are less than we can be
The loss is evident not only to those around us,
But to the mass of humanity hoping for a better day
For a day when we will use all our potential
For the day when we will strike down our fears
And reach out to the others on this journey with us
And make their path a little easier
A little more friendly
A little more exciting
Because we are now on the path together.
Walking alone against the struggles we find in this world is the loneliest path.
But when we reach out and take another into our world
When we let them know they are not alone
Then the unity of two becomes unbreakable.
Then when the world walks in unity
There is nothing we cannot accomplish.
There are so many hungry to feed,
Sorrowful to comfort,
Lost to direct,
So many searching for a friendly face
To greet them.
They are not alone.
As we direct our attention outside ourselves,
The world will open up and reveal itself to us.
Look outside yourself today.
What is there that this life offers you
That one problem that grabs your attention
And demands action?
Look closely.
It is not work.
It is an opportunity to make this world the place you and I can make it.
